We were delighted to welcome the Acousticats at Birkdale Park recently. They have been visiting for a couple of years now and have become a firm favourite among both residents, families, and staff.

Their music always brings such a wonderful atmosphere into the home. From the first note you can see what a difference it makes- smiles appear, feet start tapping, and memories begin to surface.

Music is an incredible form of therapy, especially for those living with dementia. It has a unique way of reaching people, even when other forms of communication become more difficult.

Familiar songs can transport residents back to special moments in their lives-whether its dancing in their younger years, family celebrations, or simply enjoying a favourite tune from the radio.

During these sessions, there were moments of singing along, gentle dancing, and shared laughter. It's always so special to see residents reconnect with those memories and with each through music.

We are already looking forward to their next visit..
